Bringing Canada Soccer’s National Program to Markham Classrooms

Soccer in Schools is a Canada Soccer national initiative designed to introduce students to the game in a fun, inclusive, and educational environment. Delivered locally by Unionville Milliken Soccer Club (UMSC), the program focuses on building physical literacy, confidence, and teamwork through structured, age-appropriate activities. Beyond sport, it supports healthy active living and provides educators with access to digital resources and training to help sustain soccer within the school community.

Our Impact in Markham

UMSC has quickly become a trusted delivery partner for Soccer in Schools across York Region. Since being selected by Canada Soccer in 2024, we have:

  • Delivered programs to 5 schools and over 1,200 students in 2024
  • Expanded to additional schools in 2025, reaching 1,000+ more students
  • Hosted special Soccer Day events engaging hundreds of participants

Our programs consistently receive outstanding feedback from both educators and students, reinforcing the value of bringing structured soccer programming directly into schools.

Program Options for Schools

We offer flexible delivery models to meet the needs of each school:

1. Across All Classes (Full School Experience)

  • Multi-day program reaching Grades 1–8
  • Delivered over 1–2 weeks across all classes
  • Includes educator resources and training support
  • Ideal for large-scale school engagement

2. Lunch or After-School Programs

  • 10-week structured program (1 session/week)
  • Led by certified UMSC coaches
  • Focus on skill development, fun, and teamwork
  • Designed for Grades 1–5

3. World Cup Day Event

  • One- or two-day themed soccer experience
  • Practice sessions followed by tournament play
  • School-wide engagement opportunity
  • Optional sponsorship model to offset costs

4. World Cup Tournament

  • 10-week inter-school or intra-school competition
  • Weekly games promoting teamwork and school spirit
  • Structured and professionally managed by UMSC

Approved & Ready to Deliver

UMSC is an approved provider with the York Region District School Board (YRDSB) under the Special Interest Service Providers registry. We are currently supporting schools across Markham, Richmond Hill, and Whitchurch-Stouffville.
