OPL Women Head Coach
Sherif El-Masri is a Canada Soccer / Concacaf B Licence coach and former Canadian professional player who brings high-performance experience, strong leadership, and a deep commitment to player development. At Unionville Milliken SC, he leads the coaching of our OPL Women’s teams and plays an important role in advancing the club’s player development pathway.
Sherif developed through the Ontario soccer system before building an 11-year professional playing career in Canada and abroad. His experience includes time with Toronto Lynx, FC Rouen in France, and clubs in Singapore, as well as additional professional competition across Asia and the Middle East. He also represented Canada at the youth and U-23 levels, giving him first-hand insight into the standards, discipline, and mindset required to perform in elite environments.
As a coach, Sherif combines his playing background with meaningful experience in player development. He spent three seasons in Markham SC’s OPDL program and four years working within Canada’s National Development Centre, where he helped support and develop some of the country’s top young talent. He is also currently completing his UEFA B Licence, continuing to invest in his growth as a coach and leader.
Sherif’s coaching philosophy is centered on technical quality, tactical understanding, discipline, confidence, and player-centred development. His work aligns strongly with UMSC’s mission, “We Develop Talent,” and reflects the club’s commitment to helping athletes grow not only as players, but also as confident, resilient, and committed young people.
