UMSC Brings Soccer to Aspirations and Discoveries Learning Centre
Unionville Milliken Soccer Club (UMSC) was pleased to welcome students from Aspirations and Discoveries Learning Centre to Berczy Park today for a fun and active day of soccer delivered by UMSC coaches, recreational trainers and volunteers.
Delivered in partnership with Rachel Lam, Director of Aspirations and Discoveries Academy, and led by UMSC Coach Moses Kgasa, the program provided students with an opportunity to experience soccer in a positive, energetic and inclusive environment.
Throughout the session, students participated in a variety of structured soccer activities designed to keep them moving, engaged and having fun. With the support of UMSC’s recreational trainers and volunteers, participants worked through different activity stations incorporating fundamental soccer skills, movement, teamwork and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the game.
The day also provided a great opportunity for UMSC’s young recreational trainers to put their leadership skills into action. As the photos from the event show, the UMSC team worked directly with small groups of participants, helping demonstrate activities, encouraging the students and creating an enjoyable experience on the field.
For UMSC, initiatives such as this are about more than introducing young people to soccer. They are part of the Club’s commitment to making the game accessible within our community and using soccer to create opportunities for participation, confidence, teamwork and connection.
UMSC is proud of the coaches, recreational trainers and volunteers who contributed their time and enthusiasm to make the day a success, and we thank Aspirations and Discoveries Academy and Rachel Lam for the opportunity to work together.
We look forward to continuing to build partnerships with schools and community organizations and to expanding opportunities for children and youth across Markham to experience and enjoy soccer.
