IN MEMORIAM - BASIL GILL
A GENTLEMAN, DEAR FRIEND AND COLLEAGUE
It
is with greatest sadness and fond memories that the Unionville
Milliken Soccer Club has received news that Basil Gill, our dear
friend and mentor has just passed away.
Basil was a shining example to all of us at the UMSC, from
players to the President, of how one could remain a pillar of
calmness, grace and equanimity in our clangorous world of
soccer.
Basil will be sorely missed and forever remembered by the
friends he made at UMSC - being everyone he came in contact
with.
Our condolences go out to Basil's family and all his friends,
particularly Basil's dear friend who brought Basil to our
community, UMSC's own Henry Helou.
A
Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 30th, 2010 at
9:30am at
Giffen-Mack
Funeral Home, 4115 Lawrence Avenue East, Scarborough
(Closest intersection is Kingston Rd. and Lawrence) and the
telephone number is 416-281-6800.
Donations in lieu of flowers in memory of Basil Gill of
Scarborough, Canada to
Right To Play an organization that aims to
improve the lives of children in some of the most disadvantaged
areas of the world by using the power of sport and play for
development, health and peace.
Surely
goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I
will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Danny Payne
The Unionville-Milliken Soccer Club is mourning the loss of
Danny Payne who passed away suddenly on March 19, 2010, in his 17th
year.
Soccer was Danny's passion in life. Playing soccer from the age of 8, Danny
played for the Newmarket and Thornhill Soccer Clubs and for the past 3
years, Danny played Rep soccer for the UMSC 1993 Red and White teams as well
as a guest player for other UMSC Rep teams. A talented soccer player, Danny
won the MVP and Golden Boot trophies in tournament and league play. Danny
was also the star player on the Langstaff Secondary School team.
Danny's father Steve was a tireless and a dedicated volunteer at the UMSC.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Danny's parents, Steve and Karen, and
brother Nick, and family and friends on this tragic loss.
Danny's family has requested that donations in Danny's memory be made to the
Canadian Tire Jumps Start Program
to help kids in financial need to participate in organized sport.
Also, UMSC members are invited to leave comments on
Danny's tribute website on Facebook |
