2003-11-13
Annual General Meeting Update
The UMSC AGM was held on Wednesday November 12, 2003. The President, Robert Ortali, reviewed the club's achievements and accomplishments during 2003 and outlined the plans for 2004. There were several other reviews by the Financial Auditor, Recreational VP, Competitive VP, VP Finance and Sponsorship and Communications directors. At the AGM, a Honorary Life Member award was presented to Greg Stamkos for his outstanding contributions to the club. Also, elections were held for the following positions (as per Constitution):-

The club wishes to thank Sam Lacava and Nick Mongillo, retiring directors, for their contributions while serving on the executive committee. 
  

2003-10-13
U-18 Boys Win Silver in the Nationals!
The U-18 OYSL Boys team, representing Ontario in the National Championships in Winnipeg, won the Silver Medal today after losing 2-1 in the final game against British Columbia. This represents the highest level of achievement by any UMSC team in it's history. Congratulations to the players and the dedicated coaching staff for this terrific result and for putting the UMSC on the national soccer map.

U-18 Boys Win Ontario Cup!
Congratulations to the U-18 OYSL Boys team for winning the Ontario Cup. The Strikers defeated CS Azzurri 3-2 with goals from Frank Jonke, Carlos Robayo and Chris DeAbreu. A special mention goes to coach Paul DeAbreu and previous coaches Rick Rosemin and John Gonsalves for this top level achievement.
The Strikers will next be off to the Nationals in Winnipeg on October 8, 2003.

2003 H/L Soccer Day Update
The 2003 Outdoor Season House League Soccer Day was held on Sunday September 14, 2003. Many thanks to  the House League executives, coaches, convenors, referees and volunteers for making this a successful event. Visit the house league page to view the final standings.

U-11A Boys Win Tournament!
Congratulations to the U-11A Boys for winning the 9th annual Grape & Wine tournament in St. Catherine's. The Strikers defeated Burlington, Brampton, St. Catherine's and Bradford with 19 goals for and 2 against before defeating Brampton Blast 2-1 in a hard fought final game.  Well done boys!

2003 All-Star/Select Tournament Update

With over 120 teams participating,  the 2003 All Star/Select Tournament was held on August 23-24, 2003.  Special thanks to Sam, Antonella and Herb and the many volunteers and organizations for making this a successful tournament.

UMSC Girls Shine!
Congratulations to the U-10, U-14 & U-15 Girls for winning the 2003 Thornhill Challenge Cup. The U-10 Girls won the final game against Etobicoke on a golden goal rule. The U-14 Girls defeated Barrie A in the final game 1-0. The U-15 Girls defeated Oakville 1-0 in the final game. Well done girls!

U-10 Girls Reach The Finals!
Congratulations to the U-10 Girls for reaching the finals at the Saltfleet Summer Classic Tournament. The Strikers won 3-0, 1-0 and 4-1 in the preliminary round, however, lost 3-2 in the final game with Adrianna Ruggiero on top form scoring 8 of the Strikers 10 goals.  Well done girls!

U-10A Boys are Robbie Champions!
Congratulations to the U-10A Boys for winning the Robbie Tournament. In the preliminary round, the Strikers defeated Scarborough 2-0, East York 2-0 and Windsor 2-0. The Strikers then defeated Oshawa 3-2 in the semi-final game on a golden goal rule. The Strikers played North Mississauga in the final game, which was stopped before the end due to the weather, and both teams were declared winners with the score of 2-2. Well done boys!

With 112 teams participating and the weather gods smiling upon us, the 2003 Challenge Cup was held on June 7-8, 2003.  Special thanks to Sam, Antonella and Herb and the many volunteers and organizations for making this a successful and a memorable tournament.

UMSC Day at the Toronto Inferno
Saturday June 28th is the UMSC day at the Toronto Inferno. The Inferno will be playing their arch rivals, the Ottawa Fury, at the Esther Shiner stadium in North York. Kick off is 7:00 pm. A Rep Coaches clinic with Video Analysis will be held after the Match. Contact   Paul for more info. 
Coaches Certification Update
The Senior level Certification course has been scheduled for June 21st at the Markville HS. Contact Paul if you're interested. You'll need to submit a Registration form ASAP and spaces will be limited. There's a fee which will be reimbursed by the club to UMSC coaches upon receipt of your coaching certificate by the club.

2003 All-Star/Select Tournament
The 2003 All-Star/Select Tournament will be held on August 23-24, 2003. This is a Classification "D" tournament and is sanctioned by the OSA and the YRSA. Deadline for registration is August 2. Click  the following for: Application Form , Team Roster & Tournament Rules.

2003 Ontario Cup
The UMSC will be hosting the 2003 Ontario Cup Tournament Round for Girls U15 and U16. Click the following for the Girls U15 Schedule and the Girls U16 Schedule.

U-11A Boys Reach The Finals
The UMSC Strikers U-11A Boys reached the final round of the Oshawa Kicks Tournament. The boys defeated Pickering 2-1 and Darlington 5-1 in the round robin and then defeated Pickering 1-0 in the Semi Finals. Unfortunately, the Strikers lost to Barrie 3-2 in the Finals. Well done to the Boys and coach Charles Grant!
 

U-14 Girls are League & Cup Champs!
Congratulations to the U-14 Girls for winning the Richmond Hill Indoor Challenge League Cup. The UMSC Strikers also won the league with a record of 11 wins, 3 losses and 1 tie.
 

U-18 Boys Win Tournament
Congratulations to the U-18 Boys for winning the York University Tournament. The Strikers defeated the University of Toronto 1-0 in the semis and the defending Canadian College Champions Humber 2-0 in the final.
